malondialdehyde
naturally occurring product of lipid (fat) peroxidation and prostaglandin (eicosanoid) biosynthesis that is mutagenic and carcinogenic. Also found in many foods and can be present in high amounts in rancid food. Used as a measure of cellular oxidative stress, typically as determined by the thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) assay.
